Wind Driven Leaves

Crisp fallen leaves swirling
Sharp hair-pin bends.
Catch my eye.

Bed Time

Skin shying from cold cotton.
Breath held in 'till warmth melts.

Streetlights

Amber ribbed streetlights.
Honey-centred sweets in the sky.
Melting darkness, soothing the way.

Not the Moon

Mistaken for the moon a moment,
I double-take the clock tower's bright face
Beaming in the darkness.
Holding still yet keeping pace.

Monday 24 January 2011

Seen by the Light

Movement caught by outside light.
Fine hairs of silvern silk web revealed,
Whispering "I'm here".

Sunday 23 January 2011

Too Bright

You and I,
Like moths to a flame.
Space opens
Eyes to behold
The other's luminous beauty.
Too close
And we burn

Friday 21 January 2011

Dusk Shapes & Colours

Sunset clouds blushed apricot
Striate in gills.
Black silhouetted skeleton lungs breathe against the turquoise
End of day.

Barely Freezing

Patterned ice
Untouchably delicate
Forms the pond's new skin.

Winter Burn

Swelling grey smoke spirals,
Sticks crackle and hiss.
The red faced gardener, satisfied.

Moss

Tree frog green moss
Softens stone's heart.
Warm sounds as I turn my cheek to feel more.

Casting curves

Proud wrought iron railings.
My mind traces along curves
Cast by its shadow

Sunday 16 January 2011

drops into puddles

Unheard notes of expanding fading circles
Pass over in puddles.
The rain drop finale.

Friday 14 January 2011

When to try, when to accept

The subtle and precarious balance
Between gratitude and acceptance
And work and wanting.
Effort and surrender, both
If you can, sit in God's palm
Rest on the lotus flower.
Yes, just there
And reach out to meet both hands
Gently
Hold on
And let go.

In a pocket

In the pocket of a coat long since worn
I discover small heart shaped leaf
From another world.
Brittle survival.
Fragile endurance.
My heart in my pocket.
Been hidden a while

Thursday 13 January 2011

mist rolls in

Mists of gossamer net
Drifting on earth's breath

When?

Twitchy
At the starting gate.
Primed to flee fast,
To escape
Itchy aloneness.
I wait.

Winter tree

Wind tickled leaves.
Sshhh.
Golden rust dancers quiver
Against rich forget-me-not blue.

Slippy contrasts

Oyster pink.
Stark against Autumn tones.
A lolling stretch of tongue
Sleek, the happy seal-like lab
Swims by

Friday 7 January 2011

rhythms

Over the chugging of the fridge
And the gentle swing of the clock
A distant piper’s shrill four beat rhythm.
March in time.

Wednesday 5 January 2011

walking with smells

Cold air on a walk
Breath deep the fire smoke
Stains the back of my throat
Then chips frying?
Mouth watering
